Dialysis salt switch may lower blood pressure and ease thirst

NCT ID NCT07459348

First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using a lower salt concentration in the dialysis fluid can help control blood pressure and improve blood vessel function in people with kidney failure on chronic hemodialysis. Twenty-five adults will each try both a standard and a lower-salt dialysis for three weeks, with a break in between. Researchers will measure blood pressure, fluid levels, and patient symptoms to find out which salt level works best.
