Hidden eye damage: diabetes changes retinal vessels even without visible disease
NCT ID NCT06457295
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looked at 200 people with type 2 diabetes who had no signs of diabetic eye disease during a regular eye exam. Researchers used a special imaging technique called OCTA to measure tiny blood vessels in the back of the eye. The goal was to see if the length of time someone has diabetes affects these blood vessels, even before any damage is visible to the doctor.
