Tailbone pain relief without surgery? sugar-water injections show promise in small study
NCT ID NCT07564362
First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether injecting a sugar-water solution (dextrose prolotherapy) into the ligaments around the tailbone can reduce pain and improve daily function in people with long-lasting tailbone pain (coccydynia). Researchers reviewed records of 50 adults who had not gotten better with standard treatments. Participants received 3 to 6 injections over several weeks. The goal was to see if this simple, low-cost approach could offer relief.
