First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study looked at 60 adults having thyroid surgery to see if the sedative dexmedetomidine helps doctors find and monitor the nerve that controls the voice box (recurrent laryngeal nerve) faster than another sedative, midazolam. The goal was to learn which drug might make nerve monitoring easier and safer during surgery. The results could help anesthesiologists choose the best sedative for thyroid operations.
