Summary

This study tests whether a sedative called dexmedetomidine can lower the risk of acute kidney injury in adults undergoing ascending aortic surgery with a heart-lung machine. About 78 participants will receive either the drug or a placebo. The goal is to see if the drug's calming and anti-inflammatory effects help protect kidney function after surgery.
