At-Home film may ease painful episodes in rare nerve disease
NCT ID NCT06128356
First seen Mar 06, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This small pilot study tests whether a dissolvable film containing dexmedetomidine can be used at home to treat sudden, severe episodes (autonomic crises) in people with familial dysautonomia, a rare nerve disorder. Five adults who have had these crises before will receive the film under a caregiver's supervision. The main goal is to see if such a home-based study is practical, not yet to prove the treatment works.
