First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether the steroid dexamethasone can reduce brain damage and long-term disability in adults hospitalized with tick-borne encephalitis. About 200 participants with confirmed infection and signs of brain or spinal cord inflammation will receive either dexamethasone or a placebo. The main goal is to see if fewer patients end up with significant neurological disability after treatment.
