Blood test in your tooth? new study aims to improve dental diagnosis

NCT ID NCT07466095

Summary

This study aims to see if measuring two specific inflammation markers (IL-8 and Presepsin) in the blood from inside a painful tooth can help dentists tell the difference between reversible and irreversible pulpitis. Researchers will collect small blood samples from the pulp of 50 participants' teeth during their normal dental procedures. The goal is to find a more accurate, objective way to diagnose the extent of tooth inflammation, which guides whether a tooth needs a root canal or a simpler treatment.
