New DNA test could speed up brain infection diagnosis

NCT ID NCT07435649

First seen Mar 01, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at a new test called Delve Detect CSF that uses DNA sequencing to find germs causing brain or spinal cord infections. Normally, this test is used as a last resort because it takes two weeks. Here, researchers want to see if using it earlier, with results in just two days, helps doctors diagnose infections better than standard methods. About 400 people with suspected central nervous system infections will take part.
