Study questions need for frequent scopes after polyp removal

NCT ID NCT07328308

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study compares two follow-up schedules after removing large colon polyps: the current standard (colonoscopy at 6, 18, and 48 months) versus a relaxed schedule (at 12 and 48 months). About 760 adults who had complete polyp removal will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups. The goal is to see if the relaxed schedule is just as safe at catching any returning polyps, which could lead to fewer procedures and lower healthcare costs.
