Fewer scopes, same safety: new study challenges colonoscopy norms

NCT ID NCT07328308

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether people who have had large colon polyps removed can safely wait longer for their next colonoscopy. About 760 adults will be split into two groups: one getting the standard schedule (colonoscopy at 6, 18, and 48 months) and another getting a relaxed schedule (at 12 and 48 months). If the relaxed schedule works just as well, it could mean fewer procedures, less stress, and lower healthcare costs.
