NCT ID NCT05604131

First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether a drug called deferiprone can safely reduce harmful iron buildup in the heart muscle of people who have had a severe heart attack. About 89 participants will receive either deferiprone or a placebo for 6 months, and doctors will use MRI scans to measure changes in iron levels. The goal is to see if lowering iron can prevent heart failure and other complications.
