First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a deep dental cleaning (called subgingival instrumentation) can improve symptoms and reduce immune cells in the gums of people with oral lichen planus, a chronic inflammatory condition. Thirty adults with gum involvement will receive the cleaning and be monitored for changes in signs, symptoms, and immune markers. The goal is to see if this simple procedure can ease discomfort and inflammation.
