Eye surgeons test Scar-Reducing gels in tear duct operations

NCT ID NCT07504250

Summary

This study aims to find which of two gels works better at preventing scarring and keeping the surgical opening clear after a common tear duct surgery. Surgeons will apply either a chemotherapy-derived gel (Mitomycin-C) or a natural gel (Hyaluronic Acid) during the procedure in 36 patients. Researchers will measure surgical success, patient comfort, and a marker of healing in tears to see which gel leads to better long-term results.
