Could a new MRI technique spot hidden breast lesions better than ultrasound?

NCT ID NCT07679308

First seen Jul 01, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a detailed MRI scan (called multiparametric DCE-MRI) can improve the detection of breast lesions that don't form a clear lump on ultrasound. Researchers will compare the MRI results with ultrasound findings in 60 women to see if the MRI provides a more accurate diagnosis. The goal is to help doctors make better decisions about whether these lesions are harmless or need further attention.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

multiparametric DCE-MRI

What this could lead to

If successful, this could make breast cancer detection more accurate for hard-to-see lesions, reducing missed diagnoses.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. MRI is also expensive and not widely available.
