Brain zaps battle: which spot stops tremors best?
NCT ID NCT07526155
First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested two different brain areas for deep brain stimulation (DBS) in 11 people with essential tremor whose medications no longer worked. The goal was to see if stimulating the posterior subthalamic area (PSA) works as well as the standard ventral intermediate nucleus (VIM) target, but with better energy use and fewer side effects. Participants received both treatments in a random order to compare tremor control, safety, and quality of life.
