First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looked at whether eating dark chocolate can lower blood pressure and a heart disease risk marker called TMAO in men with high blood pressure. Fifty-three Thai men aged 35-70 with mild hypertension ate either dark or white chocolate daily for two weeks, then switched after a break. The goal was to see if theobromine, a compound in dark chocolate, is responsible for any benefits.
