Hope for preemies: drug trial aims to shield tiny brains
NCT ID NCT03169881
Summary
This large study tested whether a weekly drug called darbepoetin could improve brain development and thinking skills in extremely premature infants. It involved 650 babies born between 23 and 28 weeks. The goal was to see if the drug, which helps make red blood cells and may protect brain cells, could reduce developmental delays common in these vulnerable infants.
