Braces showdown: which type straightens teeth quicker?
NCT ID NCT07185087
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study compares two types of braces—DAMON self-ligating braces and traditional MBT braces—to see which one straightens teeth faster and improves patient cooperation during the first 6 months of treatment. About 34 people aged 16 to 40 with mild to moderate crowding will participate. Researchers will measure tooth alignment, oral hygiene, and gum health at several check-ups.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
DAMON Ultima self-ligating braces and MBT conventional braces
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could show that DAMON braces straighten teeth faster and are easier for patients to manage than traditional braces.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 34 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The study only looks at the first 6 months of treatment, not the full outcome.
