Heart valve patients get new hope in blood thinner trial

NCT ID NCT04045093

Summary

This study compares two blood-thinning drugs, Dabigatran and Warfarin, to see which is safer and more effective at preventing strokes in people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) who also have a narrowed heart valve called mitral stenosis. About 370 participants will be randomly assigned to take one of the two medications for a year. The goal is to gather evidence to help doctors choose the best stroke prevention treatment for this specific group of patients.
