New study tracks CF patients on modern drugs to uncover hidden disease patterns
NCT ID NCT04353752
First seen Apr 13, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study followed 58 adults with cystic fibrosis (CF) who were starting or switching to a new CFTR modulator medication as part of their regular care. Researchers collected blood, sputum, urine, and quality-of-life surveys before and after treatment to see how inflammation, lung bacteria, and lung function changed over time. The goal was to better understand the disease's natural history in the era of modern therapies, not to test a new drug.
