First seen Mar 05, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looked at 78 intensive care patients to see if the type of dressing used on their central line (a large IV) affects the risk of developing a pressure injury on the skin. One group used gauze and tape, the other used a special transparent dressing with an antiseptic. Researchers checked the skin regularly to see which method caused fewer injuries.
