First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This Phase 3 trial in Ethiopia will compare four different drug regimens against the standard treatment for cutaneous leishmaniasis, a parasitic skin disease. 900 patients aged 4 to 65 will be hospitalized and treated for up to 28 days, with follow-up for 6 months. The goal is to see which treatment cures all skin lesions by day 90.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Sodium Stibogluconate, Miltefosine, Paromomycin, Liposomal Amphotericin B, Pentamidine isethionate
What this could lead to
If successful, this trial could identify a more effective treatment for cutaneous leishmaniasis, reducing the burden of this disfiguring disease in Ethiopia.
