Spice-Based capsule tested to fight cervical precancer

NCT ID NCT04266275

Summary

This study is testing whether curcumin, an extract from the spice turmeric, can help clear HPV infection and control abnormal cervical cells that can lead to cancer. About 200 women with mild precancer or recently treated severe precancer will use a vaginal capsule containing either curcumin or a placebo once a week for six months. Researchers will check if the curcumin group has better clearance of the HPV virus and lower rates of abnormal cell return compared to the placebo group.
