Blood test may spot hidden cancer early in patients with limited spread
NCT ID NCT07426250
First seen Feb 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a blood test that detects tumor DNA (ctDNA) can help predict if cancer will come back after local treatment in patients whose cancer has spread to only a few spots. Researchers will follow 500 adults with various solid cancers who are scheduled for local therapy. They will take blood samples before, during, and after treatment to see if ctDNA levels relate to recurrence or survival.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that simple blood tests help doctors detect cancer return earlier and guide treatment decisions for patients with limited spread.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not directly improve outcomes, and results may not apply to all cancer types or treatments.
As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
