Doctors test new imaging method to avoid nerve damage during heart procedures

NCT ID NCT07330791

Summary

This study aimed to improve the safety of certain heart procedures, like ablation for atrial fibrillation, by better locating a nearby nerve called the right phrenic nerve. Researchers compared two methods: using a special CT scan before the procedure versus stimulating the nerve during the procedure. The goal was to see if the scan could accurately predict the nerve's location to help doctors avoid it and prevent injury.
