CT scans may help doctors pick the right breathing tube size for lung surgery

NCT ID NCT07575763

First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether using a CT scan to choose the size of a breathing tube (double-lumen tube) for one-lung ventilation during chest surgery works better than the usual method. About 100 adults having planned chest surgery will be randomly assigned to either CT-guided or traditional tube sizing. The main goal is to see if the CT-guided approach leads to correct tube placement on the first try, reducing the need for tube changes.
