New drug aims to cut short sickle cell pain attacks

Summary
This study tests an investigational drug called CSL889 in 70 adults and adolescents with sickle cell disease who are having a painful vaso-occlusive crisis. The goal is to see if the drug can safely shorten the crisis and reduce the need for strong pain medicines. Participants will receive either CSL889 or a placebo by IV, and researchers will monitor how quickly the pain resolves and any side effects.
