Freezing nerves before ACL surgery may cut painkiller use

NCT ID NCT06603051

First seen May 21, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether freezing targeted nerves in the knee before ACL reconstruction surgery can help manage pain afterward. About 20 people having ACL surgery with their own tendon will be randomly assigned to standard care or standard care plus a nerve-freezing treatment (cryoneurolysis) given 7-10 days before surgery. Researchers will track how much pain medication participants use and how well their knee functions over 12 weeks after surgery.
