Freezing vs. pills: which works better for a common heart rhythm problem?

NCT ID NCT03716934

Summary

This study aimed to find out if a heart procedure called cryoablation works better than standard antiarrhythmic drugs for people with persistent atrial fibrillation (AFib). It involved 196 patients who were randomly assigned to receive either the freezing procedure or medication. Researchers monitored participants for over three years using a small implanted heart monitor to see which treatment better controlled the irregular heartbeat and was safer.
