Freezing heart tissue to stop dangerous irregular heartbeats

Summary

This study is testing a medical device that uses extreme cold to treat a specific type of irregular heartbeat called paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AFib) in people whose symptoms aren't controlled by medications. Doctors will use a special balloon catheter to freeze and scar small areas of heart tissue around the pulmonary veins, which are often the source of the problem. The main goals are to see if this procedure is safe and if it can stop the irregular heart rhythms from coming back over a 12-month period.
