Freezing nerves to ease agony of lung transplant

NCT ID NCT06959056

Summary

This small pilot study is testing whether freezing the nerves in the chest (cryo-analgesia) can help patients recover better after a double lung transplant. Researchers want to see if this technique reduces severe pain, improves lung function, and lowers the need for strong painkillers like morphine. The study will follow 40 patients with severe COPD for a year after their transplant to measure pain levels, hospital stay, and quality of life.
