Freezing nerves after lung transplant may cut pain and speed recovery

Summary
This pilot study tests a technique called cryo-analgesia, which freezes chest nerves to reduce pain after double lung transplantation. Researchers want to see if it lowers pain scores, reduces morphine use, and improves lung function and quality of life. The study involves 40 adults with end-stage COPD receiving a lung transplant at a Belgian hospital. Half will get the nerve block, half standard pain care, and all will be followed for one year.
