New formula could help prevent costly, risky dialysis filter clots

NCT ID NCT07293936

Summary

This study aims to test if a simple calculation can accurately predict when a kidney dialysis filter is at risk of clogging with blood clots. Researchers will compare the formula's results against actual blood measurements from about 20 adult patients receiving continuous dialysis. The goal is to gather evidence for a better way to monitor and potentially prevent filter clotting, which can interrupt treatment and increase patient risk and cost.
