Gut germ boost: can a friendly bacteria supercharge Crohn's treatment?

NCT ID NCT07415473

Summary

This study is testing if adding a daily supplement of a specific gut bacteria, called Akkermansia muciniphila, to the standard Crohn's disease drug infliximab helps heal the intestinal lining better than the drug alone. About 400 adults with active Crohn's disease will be randomly assigned to receive either the combination or just the standard drug. The main goal is to see if more patients achieve complete healing of their intestinal ulcers after 26 weeks of treatment.
