First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This early-stage study tests a drug called crofelemer in 6 adults with short bowel syndrome who have an ileostomy and rely on IV nutrition. The goal is to see if the drug can reduce how much fluid is lost through the stoma and lower the need for IV support. Participants take the drug as a powder three times daily for 12 weeks, followed by a 4-week check-up.
