Can a simple supplement help patients get off breathing machines?
NCT ID NCT07177183
Summary
This study aims to understand if a low blood level of creatinine, a marker of muscle mass, can predict which patients will struggle to stop using a breathing machine (ventilator). It will also test if giving a dietary supplement called creatine to patients with low creatinine helps them wean off the ventilator faster and improves their recovery. The study will involve about 500 patients in Czech post-intensive care units.
