New Non-Invasive exercise test could replace catheters for Heart-Lung diagnosis

NCT ID NCT07281534

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study checks if a new exercise test called CPETecho gives consistent results when repeated a week later. It combines a bike or treadmill test with an ultrasound of the heart, all without needles or catheters. Thirty adults with breathing or heart issues will do the test twice, one week apart. If the results are reliable, this could become a safer, simpler way to diagnose heart and lung problems during exercise.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If this test proves reliable, it could become a standard non-invasive tool to diagnose heart and lung problems during exercise.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early reliability study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The test may still need more validation before it can be used widely.
