New combo therapy aims to cut deaths in ICU patients struggling to breathe

Summary
This study looks at whether using a CPAP mask along with high-flow oxygen therapy can lower the chance of death in patients with sudden, severe breathing failure. About 1,084 adults in the ICU will be randomly assigned to receive either the combination therapy or high-flow oxygen alone. The main goal is to see if the combined approach reduces deaths within 90 days.
