Breathing machine trial aims to thin thick blood in sleep apnea patients
NCT ID NCT06089603
Summary
This study is testing if using a CPAP machine for a year can reduce high red blood cell counts in people with moderate-to-severe sleep apnea. Researchers will compare blood counts and quality of life in 182 people randomly assigned to either use CPAP or not. The goal is to see if treating sleep apnea with CPAP can help control a related blood condition called polycythemia.
