First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 39 times
Summary
This study looked at 34 breastfed infants under 6 months old with cow's milk protein allergy. Researchers wanted to see if a cow's milk elimination diet for mothers improved the babies' gut mucus barrier and immune markers. They measured growth, allergy symptoms, and levels of MUC2 and sIgA in stool samples. The study was observational and completed, providing insights but not testing a new treatment.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
elimination diet (cow's milk protein-free diet for breastfeeding mothers)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors understand whether an elimination diet improves gut immune markers and growth in infants with cow's milk protein allergy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed observational study with only 34 infants, so results may not apply to all babies. It does not test a new treatment, only measures effects of a standard diet.
