This study tested a new vaccine called S-268019 to see if it could prevent COVID-19. About 9,900 adults who had never had COVID-19 received either the vaccine or a placebo. Researchers tracked how many people got sick with COVID-19 after vaccination to measure the vaccine's effectiveness.
