Extra shot tested to protect vulnerable transplant patients from COVID

NCT ID NCT05220397

Summary

This study tested if giving a dose of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine could improve immune protection in kidney transplant patients. These patients often have a weaker response to standard mRNA vaccines (like Pfizer or Moderna). The trial enrolled 468 kidney transplant recipients who had already received two or three mRNA vaccine doses but still had low antibody levels, aiming to see if the different vaccine could boost their immunity.
