Breathing gas sedation could save more COVID-19 ICU patients
NCT ID NCT04415060
Summary
This study tests whether using inhaled anesthetic gases (like those used in surgery) to sedate critically ill COVID-19 patients on ventilators works better than standard intravenous (IV) drugs. It aims to see if the gases help more patients survive, reduce time on the ventilator, and shorten hospital stays. The research also addresses global shortages of IV sedation drugs by evaluating a widely available alternative.
