First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looks at whether coughing exercises or a device called an incentive spirometer can help children breathe better and recover faster after heart surgery. About 99 kids aged 6 to 18 will be split into three groups: one doing coughing exercises, one using the spirometer, and one getting standard care. They will do their exercises every 3 hours for the first 3 days after surgery, and doctors will check their lung function and recovery progress daily.
