One shot before surgery could slash dangerous infections

NCT ID NCT03437746

Summary

This study tested whether giving a single dose of a steroid (methylprednisolone) right before elective colon or rectal surgery could reduce serious complications afterward. It involved 78 adults having planned surgery for conditions like cancer or diverticulitis. The goal was to see if calming the body's inflammatory response with this one-time treatment could lower infection rates and improve recovery.
