First seen May 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 05, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests a method to make cornea grafts stronger before they are used as a support for the Boston keratoprosthesis type I, an artificial cornea. The goal is to see if strengthening the graft with a special light and vitamin treatment (crosslinking) can prevent the graft from melting after surgery. About 40 people who need this artificial cornea will take part, and half will get the strengthened graft to compare outcomes.
