Could cord blood save more premature babies?
NCT ID NCT07502781
Summary
This study aims to see if using red blood cells from donated umbilical cord blood is better than the standard adult donor blood for transfusions in extremely premature babies. About 115 babies born before 28 weeks will be randomly assigned to receive one type of blood if they need a transfusion. Researchers will check if cord blood helps reduce serious lung and eye problems or death compared to adult blood.
