New cord blood transplant shows promise for tough leukemia cases

Summary

This study tests a new way to use cord blood transplants for people with high-risk leukemia or myelodysplasia. The approach expands cord blood stem cells with a molecule called UM171 to improve recovery and reduce complications. About 30 participants will receive this transplant to see if it lowers transplant-related deaths and improves survival.
