Could a Baby's own cord blood be a safer transfusion?

NCT ID NCT05612919

Summary

This study tested whether red blood cells from umbilical cord blood are a safe and effective alternative to blood from adult donors for treating anemia in extremely premature infants. Researchers compared the two blood sources in 41 babies born before 28 weeks. The goal was to see if cord blood could reduce potential risks linked to adult donor blood, like oxygen-related complications.
