Cord blood infusion may speed bone marrow recovery in elderly blood cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07201233

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests whether infusing umbilical cord blood can safely help bone marrow recover after chemotherapy in adults aged 60–80 with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) or acute myeloid leukemia (AML). About 30 participants will receive the infusion and be monitored for blood cell counts, bleeding, and infection. The goal is to reduce the severity and duration of bone marrow suppression, a common and serious side effect of chemotherapy.
